I'm pretty sure the behavior in the Alpha is exactly the same as the regular Blight client.
IF so, this isn't an alpha build bug, but rather an issue for the content team. There was a change to the UI definition spec that explicitly allows sorting of columns, and what column will be sorted in what way by default... unfortunately, the designer of that new spec made sorting off by default, so all UI*Window.def files will need to be updated to reflect the change.
This is out of the scope of what is attempted with the alpha build, which is proof of concept asset loading from packages.
