I guess the cert is used for more than just encrypting the traffic between users' web browsers and the web server.Â
There are two workarounds:
 1. use the standalone launcher.
 2. launch without.
I'll throw together something about launching without the website or standalone in a bit.Â

I went first to c drive then to program files, Tulga file, Horizon file, then cliked on the flag/banner Icon name horizons laucher which is next to the Hz dragon icon. After cliking on it I selected my char, and then unchecked all lauch options and it loaded up just fine. Well I am off to play for 20 minutes. Hope this hepls others to play faster.

Mon, 07/16/2007 - 14:44Hi.
Using the launcher is okay when you just need to log your actual character. But what about creating a new account or a new character ? I have friends whi wanted to come on Horizons this week, and they can't, and I wanted to make a dragon alt, but yet it's impossible.
Does anyone know a way to create new account and/or new character ? Does anyone have informations if the problem will be fixed or not ? etc...
Thanks by advance for any answer.
Yllianna from Order.
That could be a problem.

Mon, 07/16/2007 - 17:01Creating a new character could be a problem. You'd need to be able to log in to the website for that. Sorry, I don't know of a workaround.
As for the problem getting fixed... well, the good news is that EI just needs to get a new SSL certificate. The bad news is that EI just needs to get a new SSL certificate. :P I think this is going to be one of those "It will be fixed whenever it gets fixed" deals.

Tue, 07/17/2007 - 13:47As of Tuesday at 10:30 am PST, all attempts to use the method mentioned above have failed on all 3 of my accounts. It now seems that ALL DOORS are closed to us. The launcher itself will not complet its task, thus kicking us out. You can login, you can select your toon, you can attempt to launch -- and then hit the proverbial brick wall -- similar to the transport error we often run into.
My hope has turned to ashes, my heart is cold with dread.

Tue, 07/17/2007 - 16:26Please be advised, there was a massive power failure at Lime Light Networks in Phoenix today, as a result of sever weather and related factors. This power failure caused an uncontrolled shutdown of all Horizons facilities/servers. We are in the process of working through all of the issues and rebuilding databases where necessary. This process is going to take sometime, we will provide an estimated up time on this website, just as soon as we have a better idea of the time frames involved.Â
Thank you for your understanding,Â
